Bionic Limb Reconstruction Symposium 2025
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
This Symposium actually should be a Skills Course in Extremity Reconstruction that we have roughly planned at the Advanced Orthoplastic Amputation Care Course in Israel last year. As the program took shape in the last few weeks and months, we have realized however that the advances in amputation care are advancing with such tremendous speed that Jason Souza, Paul Cederna and I have made a decision to change the format of the meeting to a Scientific Symposium to present and discuss the latest advances in bionic limb reconstruction both from a basic research point of view but also with a strong clinical focus.
Thus, this Symposium will have live video feeds from the operation theatre to introduce novel techniques in Man-Machine Interfacing, provide the option for hands-on training in a cadaver lab and also give ample opportunity to discuss indications and limitations for these novel techniques in clinical care of severe limb trauma. Several Keynote lectures from world renowned opinion leaders in the field and scientific paper sessions will give ample space for junior and senior staff to discuss their latest research with the best peers in the field.
With all that said, I would like to encourage you to submit your best research, encourage your PhDs, junior or senior staff scientists and clinicians of all stages to send your best cases or case series to us so we can discuss these and chart the way forward in this exciting field. We have decided to leave enough time to submit your work with a deadline of September 1st. This should still leave enough time to plan your trip. However, I would recommend to make hotel reservations asap- as this is always is a very busy time in Vienna.
Finally, Vienna in December presents itself in its most beautiful gown with the many chandeliers and magnificent lightings for the upcoming Christmas season and we will thus end the meeting Friday in good time so there is still opportunity to meet at one of the many Christmas markets and enjoy this special season with friends and family.
On behalf of the rest of the organizing team, I am looking forward to see you in Vienna December 2025!
